Derry Londonderry centre
The Derry~Londonderry centre is located at 25-30 The Diamond, within the Main Square in the city centre. The centre has a geographical catchment area which ranges from Derry Londonderry city areas e.g. Galliagh and Creggan, Eglinton, Waterside to Limavady, Dungiven, Strabane, Plumbridge and North Donegal.
WAVE provides a continuum of trauma intervention services in relation to need including Outreach Support, Counselling, Complementary Therapies, Welfare-Advice/Advocacy and Trauma Training courses. Many of the individuals accessing these services are not only trying to overcome their bereavement or injury but also living with the trauma of deprivation, poverty and exclusion.
The following support services are available from the Derry~Londonderry centre each week:
- Outreach Support by Case Workers (Monday-Friday)
- Counselling/Psychotherapy (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)
- Complementary Therapies (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)
- Welfare & Advice (Tuesday & Wednesday)
- Psychosocial & Educational Programmes (Tuesday)
Our Derry~Londonderry staff have the skills, knowledge and qualification to deliver the appropriate support to each individual with trauma and help meet their needs. All our staff receive trauma specific training, which they build upon throughout their career. They take a person-centred approach, putting the individual with trauma at the core of their work.
Every Wednesday the WAVE Derry~Londonderry centre operates a satellite clinic in the premises of Strabane District Caring Services. This service offers complementary therapies, drop-in and outreach assessment clinic.
