New Outreach Clinic in Ballymena

Our Ballymoney centre has opened a new outreach clinic in Ballymena, thanks to Victim Support who have provided free access to their offices.  The clinic is available on Mondays from 9am to 5pm at Broughshane Street, Ballymena.  Services on offer include psychotherapy, complementary therapy and outreach befriending.  For further information, please contact the Ballymoney office.

Human Rights Award to Margaret McKinney

Member and friend of WAVE, Margaret McKinney has been presented with a Human Rights Award by the Foundation of Victims of Terrorism at a ceremony in Madrid.

Margaret's son Brian disappeared in 1978, feared abducted by the IRA.  Margaret campaigned for 21 years for the IRA to release information about where her son was buried.  Brian's body was found in June 1999.

Upholstery Class Spawns New Business

In April, members from our Armagh centre completed a course in upholstery.  This was a first for the centre and proved to be a site, as members were able to jazz up old and tired furniture by introducing new fabrics and colour.  Some of those that came along have now started their own business - a real success story and who knows, this could be the start of something big!

Youth STAR Programme Piloted in Belfast

During the latter stages of 2010, we piloted Youth STAR, a new trauma awareness programme designed to help young poeple become more aware of trauma, its effects and to develop strategies for building resiliency.
