'Some Mother's Son'

26th September 2017

Linda Molloy will share poems from her book 'Some Mother's Son' on Thursday 28th September 2017 at 7pm in WAVE Belfast.

Linda in the foreward writes; 'The impulse to write came as a result of my own personal trauma when my life changed forever after the loss of my son John. John was murdered in 1996 whilst walking home alone. He was just 18 years old. We still wait for justice.
20 years after the event, I have used this medium as therapy on my journey towards healing. I have been inspired by my passion for the written word'.

'Some Mother's Son' will be on sale with the proceeds shared between WAVE and the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.

On the 21st June 2017 at the Day of Reflection Linda read her poem 'Sombre' which is featured in the book. The first two verses read;

'Softly she slips to where he sleeps.
Stoops, in silence supplication.
Cloak like a black shroud surrounds her stiff, stark shape.
She suffers.

Letters etched in stone speak of youth somehow stolen.
She sobs sadly, shoulders shake
She suffers.

It would have been John's 40th birthday on Thursday 28th September. It is a special day for the Molloy family.

If you knew John or know Linda or Pat or you would like to come along can you message on facebook or call the Belfast Centre 02890779922.
