Congratulations to Paul Gallagher

18th May 2017

Congratulations to Paul Gallagher who will commence  a PhD in October 2017 at the Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice, also in Queen's University.

Paul graduated from Queen's University Belfast in July 2016 after having undertaken the BSc Psychological Trauma Studies, in conjunction with WAVE, with a First Class Honours Degree.  Having completed a number of short courses with WAVE including Grief, Trauma and the Helping Relationship, this was the logical choice for someone who wanted to learn more about the effects of trauma on Paul, as an individual, as well as how it has affected our society, in general.  Paul is now on the verge of completing a Masters in Conflict Transformation and Social Justice at Queen's and will begin a PhD in October 2017 at the Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice, also in Queen's University.  The Topic of the PhD is 'New Social Movement Theory and the Reparations Movement in Northern Ireland'. This will focus upon the WAVE Injured Group's campaign for a pension for people who were severely injured during the Troubles, of which Paul is an integral member.  It is hoped that this in-depth research project will go some way to helping this group of people finally get what they deserve.
