Day of Reflection events to take place across all WAVE centres'

The ‘Day of Reflection’ is a ‘Healing Through Remembering’ initiative and it is a day to acknowledge the deep hurt and pain caused by the conflict in and about Northern Ireland, to reflect on our own attitudes on what more we might have done or might still do, and to make a personal commitment that such loss should never be allowed to happen again.

There shall be a Day of Reflection event in each of our centres:

WAVE Armagh Centre- The Armagh centre will mark the annual ‘Day of Reflection’ by showing a special screening of Brendan J Byrne’s short film ‘HearMy Voice’ which documents Colin Davidson’s highly acclaimed ‘Silent Testimony Exhibition’ the event will commence at 12pm. A light lunch will be provided and afterwards guests will be invited to the local council garden for a short ribbon tying ceremony at WAVE’s Tree of Hope.

WAVE Omagh Centre- The Omagh centre will mark the annual ‘Day of Reflection’ with a cross-community service and light buffet at 1pm.

WAVE Ballymoney Centre- The Ballymoney centre will mark the annual ‘Day of Reflection’ with a reflection service starting at 11.30am.Guests will be invited to reflect on some stories, sharing thoughts or spending some time in silence.

WAVE Belfast Centre- The Belfast centre will mark the annual ‘Day of Reflection’ in the Garden of Hope from 7pm-9pm. The event will be addressed by award winning author Susan McKay ‘Bear in Mind These Dead’ and ‘Northern Protestants’, Susan will be joined by St.Patrick’s Church Choir then afterwards guests will enjoy a BBQ in the garden.

WAVE Derry Londonderry Centre- The Derry Londonderry centre will mark the annual ‘Day of Reflection’ by inviting guests to a private viewing of the highly acclaimed exhibition ‘Silent Testimony’ by artist Colin Davidson,who will be in attendance. The exhibition will be shown in the Nerve Visual Galleryin the Ebrington Centre, the evening will commence at 6.30pm. This is an event not to be missed, where you can come and share in the experience of the exhibitionas well as reflecting on your own private thoughts on the Day of Reflection.
