WAVE Injured Group meet with the Secretary of State
19th July 2017
The Secretary of State said that he wanted to go to consultation on proposed institutions like the Historical Investigations Unit and the Independent Commission on Information Retrieval after the Executive is restored.
Efforts to get the Executive back in place are due to resume in September.
Members of the Injured Group who were part of the delegation made it very clear to the Secretary of State that they regard the provision of a special pension for the severely injured as a legacy issue.
If, for whatever reason, the local administration was unable or unwilling to agree on a way to implement it, as has been the case over the past number of years, then the Government at Westminster should legislate.
The Secretary of State was left in no doubt as to the strength of feeling of the group.
