Volunteering

For many of our members or supporters, volunteering at WAVE is an opportunity to ‘give something back.’

“Five and a half years after I was bereaved, I came to WAVE and received enormous help, which allowed me to get my life back on track. A year or so later I realised how much my life had been turned around and I wanted to put something back into WAVE. I became a volunteer and would help in the office, Mondays and Thursdays. By doing so, it enables the permanent staff to get on with other work. It gives me the feeling of being useful and starts the week off on the right footing.”  WAVE member & volunteer.

Of course, you do not need to be a member to volunteer, as long as you support our ethos and the work we do. You also need to be dependable and flexible.   We have a wide variety of opportunities for volunteers including the following:
  • Administration
  • Youth work
  • Befriending
  • Fundraising
  • Driving duties
  • Research/publicity/lobbying
  • Catering
  • General maintenance

Currently, we have around 110 volunteers working across our five centres and they are a vital resource for our organisation. If you would like to find out more about volunteering opportunities, please contact your local Wave Trauma Centre for more information.
