Brian has reported on the conflict for both television and newspapers – his work spanning the pre and post ceasefire years. He has also written several books on the emerging peace process. Tonight he will be joined by a number of special guests, who together will share their own unique insights on how the peace was won. Among the guests will be north Belfast singer songwriter Gerry Creen, who in recent months has performed on the same bill and stages as Brian Kennedy, Juliet Turner and Nanci Griffith. Gerry’s song ‘ A Rose By Any Other Name’ is recognised as one of Ireland’s leading peace anthems.

‘5 Minutes of Heaven’ Film starring James Nesbitt and Liam Neeson

Wednesday 28th April @ 2pm
WAVE Trauma Centre, 5 Chichester Park South, Belfast BT15 5DW

This is the first showing in WAVE of this ‘Troubles’ related film. 5 Minutes of Heaven reconstructs the real life killing of 19 year old Jim Griffin by UVF man Alistair Little in 1975. The film goes on to depict a fictional meeting between Little and Jim’s brother Joe 33 years later. Whilst for the most part a work of fiction, the film does raise several issues that need to be addressed in any process aimed at dealing with the past. Joe Griffin will be at tonight’s screening and will take part in a question and answer session following the film.
Please note this event is strictly by ticket only, tickets are free and will be issued on a first come first serve basis – to reserve a ticket call WAVE on 02890779922. Supper will be provided.
