Human Rights Award to Margaret McKinney

Member and friend of WAVE, Margaret McKinney has been presented with a Human Rights Award by the Foundation of Victims of Terrorism at a ceremony in Madrid.

Margaret's son Brian disappeared in 1978, feared abducted by the IRA.  Margaret campaigned for 21 years for the IRA to release information about where her son was buried.  Brian's body was found in June 1999.

Professor Rogelia Alonso, Universidad Rey, Juan Carlos, Madrid writes "Her [Margaret's] humanity, strength, courage and determination are a great example to me.   Thanks to Margaret, the world is a better place because she defeated the IRA and the cowards who made her life hell.  She is a great symbol and a role model for people who want to fight to update human rights."
