No Longer Poles Apart
NLPA was the outcome of a number of residentials between WAVE Youth and the British Red Cross Venture Group. A total of ten young people from different sides of the community got together to share their ideas on the building of relationships. Not content to simply sit and discuss this issue, the group decided to use some form of art to express and celebrate their similarities and differences.
Make way for the ‘Totem Pole’, this six foot structure was created from clay in five sections, each section portraying the interests and identity of each young person that took part. While the ‘Totem Pole’ was the result, it should be noted that many of the clay images that make it up came into being from conversations conducted during the many workshops that were held. The project was facilitated by Earthform Ceramics.
